How to Create Liquid Typeography Effect in Adobe Illustrator

Step 1: Create a new document

Open Adobe Illustrator, create a new document with a size of your choice, and set it as liquid typeography preset. If you prefer the same size as shown in our video (1000 x 1000 pixels), feel free to do so!

Step 2: Set the background color

Lock Layer 1 (Background) and create a new layer named 'Text.' Change the fill color of this layer to white.

Step 3: Type your text

Use the type tool to add your desired word or phrase. We'll be using 'liquid' for demonstration purposes.

Step 4: Expand the text

Select the text, then go to Object > Expand > Object and Fill. This will create individual letters, making it easier to apply the liquid effect.

Step 5: Select each letter

With the text still selected, ungroup it by right-clicking and selecting 'Ungroup.' Now you can select each letter individually.

Step 6: Apply the liquid effect

Select the Ring tool (beneath the Width tool), then double-click on it. In the Ring Options window, set Horizontal to 100% and Vertical to 0%. This will create the liquid effect.

Step 7: Adjust the angle and colors

Go to the Gradient panel, select your gradient, and adjust the colors and angle as desired. For a vibrant look, you can use a gradient with two bold colors!

Step 8: Save your file

When you're satisfied with your creation, save your work by going to File > Save As > Adobe Illustrator. Give your project an appropriate name and save it as an AI file.
