Mastering Geometric Constraints in AutoCAD: Fixed Tool, Vertical Tool, and Equal Tool

Mastering Geometric Constraints in AutoCAD: Fixed Tool, Vertical Tool, and Equal Tool 🛠️🔧🌐

Welcome to this video learning series of AutoCAD! In today's tutorial, we will discuss the fixed tool, vertical tool, and equal tool. These tools are crucial for applying geometric constraints in your designs. Let's get started with the fixed tool.

Fixed Tool 🔒

Creating a Line Segment

  1. Create a line segment first. No constraints are applied by default.
  2. Try to rotate it using an endpoint as the base point. You can rotate at any angle.

Applying the Fixed Tool

  1. Invoke the fixed tool. Click on it.
  2. Select an endpoint of the line.
  3. A fixed constraint symbol appears over the line. Repeat this step for another endpoint if needed.
  4. If you try to rotate the line now, AutoCAD will display a message preventing rotation due to constraints.

Vertical Tool 📐

Creating an Angled Line Segment

  1. Create a line segment at some angle.
  2. To make this line vertical, select the vertical tool and choose the line.
  3. The line will now be vertical, with a vertical constraint applied to it.

Equal Tool ⚛️

Creating Circles

  1. Create two circles, one larger than the other.
  2. Choose the equal tool and select the first circle.
  3. Select the second circle.
  4. The circles will now be of the same diameter, with an equal constraint applied between them.
  5. If you try to increase the diameter of either circle, the other will also adjust accordingly.
