Welcome to our guide on how to compare two drawings in AutoCAD. This tutorial is perfect for those looking to improve their productivity and efficiency when working with multiple versions of the same or different drawings.

Why Compare Drawings?

Comparing drawings allows you to easily observe changes made between versions, helping you identify errors, track progress, and collaborate more effectively. With AutoCAD's DWG Compared Tool, comparing drawings has never been easier!

Steps to Compare Drawings

  1. Open the drawing you want to compare with the DWG Compared Tool in the compare panel of the view tab.
  2. Save the original or reference drawing with a new name to your computer.
  3. Make changes to the second drawing and save it with a new name.
  4. Select the first drawing (the one you saved as a new version) in the DWG Compared Tool dialog box.
  5. Open the second drawing by clicking on the 'Open' button.
  6. The components that were changed in the second drawing will be displayed with original clouds under them.
  7. You can also see the DWG Compared panel, which indicates the original position of components (in gray), their current position (in red), and any changes made to their positions (in green).
  8. Turn division clouds on or off using the ballbiking in the Division Clouds area.

Tips and Tricks

  • You can compare more than two drawings by adding additional files to the compare panel.
